Welfie + Google : A match made in classroom heaven

So …. We did a thing.

At Welfie we are super excited to be announcing that we were accepted to the Google for Startups Black Founders Fund.

Why is this so exciting? Well here is what we are hoping to accomplish during the next few months.

Google Classroom

Did you know that Google Classroom is one of the world’s leading Learning Management Systems? Million of students and teachers come together on this platform to learn, play and grow together. Well… we want in on the fun.

We hope to bring our fun and exciting health education into the classroom to combat misinformation, increase health literacy and inspire youth into careers in health care. From community health workers (which I think is most important) to doctors (boring) we believe health education can be a force for career development and economic independence for the next generation.

Still a bit early. And undergoing some edits but click the button below to check out our lesson plans

Google Cloud

Care coordination is a big part of what we do here at Welfie. But here is the thing. There aren’t enough care coordinators, social workers, or counselors to get the job done. But that doesn’t mean we should give up. This is where Google’s prowess in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) comes in.

We have the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the world’s best engineers as we aim to build a community health assistant that can augment the efforts of community health workers and care coordinators in schools, communities and around the world.

Google Health

If you didn’t know Google Health is on a mission to bring health equity to the masses starting with combatting misinformation and ensuring health content on YouTube is accurate and from trusted sources. Sound familiar? Sounds like our kind of people.

We hope to connect with leaders at both Google Health and YouTube and bring our special band of intergalactic health heroes into the mix. We are excited to be attending the Google Health Equity Summit. And you should too!

Well… there you have it. Our three wishes from the Google Startup Genie. Wish us luck. And if you move in the waters of health and education equity. Don’t be a stranger!
