Sometimes the good days are the hardest

“Today was a good day” - Ice Cube

But… it was also a very hard day… really and truly a heartbreaking one.

I had the privilege of visiting a local school campus that houses three schools, elementary, middle, and high school. And.. it was bare. Students are at home, hallways are empty, chairs are on desks and the playground is eerily quiet.

We have listened to educators as they have expressed the impacts on their schools and their lives. We have heard the concern of parents. But seeing it today profoundly impacted and motivated me to continue the work that we are doing. To redouble efforts and to lead the way in community-based health for schools.

I could type a thousand words to try and express how I felt. But they would not do it justice. So I've recorded the video below, a snippet of which is included above.

If this moves you. If you are a parent, teacher, administrator, and, most importantly a student. I am here to listen to your story. And share your truth.

It was hard to see how schools have impacted. But I am feeling blessed to be in a position to help. And that, is why it was a good day.
